Strawberry Smoothie

Supplement your healthy lifestyle and breakfast with a delicious smoothie! Smoothies are a tasty and nutritious way to get extra vitamins and minerals into your diet. This recipe is chock-full of body-nourishing goodies:

They are proven beneficial for vision, lowering cholesterol, reducing inflammation and so much more. The best part is that you only need a few of them a day to get these benefits!

Yogurt – Did you know that yogurt has nearly every nutrient that your body needs in it? It's high in protein, can strengthen your immune system, benefit heart health and so much more. Yogurt is truly a powerhouse!Almond Butter is high in monounsaturated fats, which help raise “good” cholesterol.

Almond Butter may help improve your heart health and prevent irregular heart rhythms. It is also good for your brain and your bones!

Raw Honey is a great source of antioxidants and it's a phenomenal phytonutrient provider.Try using a local honey (you might find it at your local farmer's market) to help alleviate your allergies during the upcoming pollen season!

Vanilla Extract can help reduce high blood sugar and benefit the heart.

Almond Milk provides Vitamin E, which helps combat inflammation and stress in the body. Vitamin E has also been shown to help improve brain function and reduces the risk of Alzheimer's disease.

Let's put them all together into one of our favorite smoothie recipes- A nutrient-dense strawberry smoothie!

55 Fitness Strawberry Smoothie
(Recipe makes one serving)

To make this smoothie, you will need:

  • 1/2 Cup Whole Frozen Strawberries (around 5 large)
  • 1/8 Cup Nonfat Plain Greek Yogurt
  • 1.5 Teaspoons Almond Butter
  • 1 Teaspoon Honey
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 Cup Unsweetened Almond Milk

Put all of these ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until smooth. If needed, add more almond milk to get the consistency that you like. If you’d like to add a protein powder (hemp protein works great!), do so now and blend again. If you like more of a soft serve consistency, add ice and keep blending until you get the desired consistency. Pour into a glass and enjoy immediately!
